THE FEEL
Winfield has tons of local pride, which shows in its schools, its businesses, and its city events. Residents can choose from a mix of newer and older subdivisions, as well as farmland for scenic country living.
HISTORY
Winfield was founded by David T. Killam in 1879, who named the town after his father Winfield Killam. During its heyday, one could travel to the town by horse and wagon, river, or rail, making it a prosperous “crossroads” for the area. Although it retains some of that character, it has become a popular destination who folks wanting quiet country living in a scenic (yet convenient) area.

Winfield sits at the intersection of scenic Highway 79 and highway 47, a short drive north of the Cuivre River and a little over an hour away from the city of St. Louis.

Winfield offers a small town atmosphere with suburban convenience which includes family owned restaurants, fairgrounds, ballpark, farmers & artisans market, convenience stores, an up-and-coming main street.

Market on Main | The market’s mission is to improve the health of our residents by providing a venue where local farmers, producers, crafters, and artisans can come together to provide a variety of fresh produce and related products. Additionally, Market on Main will be offering a SNAP/EBT program to assist families in gaining access to healthy options.
