THE FEEL
A post World War II suburb, Crestwood is primarily made up of single-family homes built in the 60s. Crestwood’s municipal government prides itself on low taxes, good city services, and a great school system. The fact that it is a stable, safe neighborhood is also a big draw for families.
HISTORY
Crestwood is the final resting place of Sgt. John Sappington, a Revolutionary War soldier who served as George Washington’s personal bodyguard at the battle of Valley Forge. Sappington eventually settled in what is now Crestwood, fathering 18 children and establishing the family in the area. Today, the Sappington House stands as a museum of Americana open to the public.
ACCESSIBILITY
The neighborhood is located near major interstates 270 and 44 for easy access into the city, and only a 30-minute drive from Lambert International Airport.
CULTURE
Crestwood is always evolving and is a place for residents to grow together. The neighborhood has attracted a new crowd with its ArtSpace program, which offers collaborative spaces for artists.
ENTERTAINMENT
Residents can always get a breath of fresh air at the neighborhood’s local parks. Grant’s Farm and Trail are also nearby for family fun.
SCHOOLS
Most Crestwood residents are served by the Lindbergh School District; a smaller population served by Affton and Webster Groves school districts. The neighborhood also contains a number of private and religious schooling options.
PARKS & REC
Crestwood Park
This 21-acre park is the neighborhood’s second largest, featuring a walking trail, playground, athletic fields, and tennis courts.
Whitecliff Park
Spanning 85 acres, Whitecliff is one of St. Louis' largest municipal parks. It is dedicated to preserving its natural state with wooded hiking trails and scenic views.
Crestwood Community Center
The center offers a range of facilities including an aquatic center, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a playground, and a lighted athletic field.
